In a fit of I - don't - know -what, I bought a pair of white jeans today.

They were cheap, yes, but a good buy? I'm not quite sure.

I may regret this...

Part Dos

My friend Beth and I work at camp together, though sadly she's only been here for a few months and she'll head back to Virginia in less than a month.

She is truly a kindred spirit and what makes me laugh is we also happen to look sort of similar, but this seems to be more than the poor folks of Redwood Glen can handle. People are constantly thinking one of us is the other.

She and I decided yesterday that it was time to buy, and to bring back, the toe ring. Yes.

My Tuesday Highlights

I was able to be a part of a Passover Seder that my church did.

It was really special and meaningful, and I am again reminded how important it is to know the roots of my faith because they are just that - MY roots. They inform everything I believe. Anyway, it was very beautiful how Christ is the fulfillment of all that symbolism.

I included a photo of these brown eggs now in my fridge to tell you something that will make you understand how ridiculous I really am. The last thing you do in a passover Seder has to do with a boiled egg, to represent the destruction of the temple (in our case, also the death and resurrection of Jesus Messiah). So each row of people had a boiled egg, but we didn't eat them. So after everything was finished, I was helping clean up all the napkins and half-full cups of grape juice (no wine, sadly - this was a family show), cups of horseradish (I bet this piques your curiosity!), etc. I was throwing everything that was half-eaten away, and I threw one egg away and said...wait. Why? Why throw perfectly good uneaten (shell still on, mind you) hard boiled eggs away? I asked my friend who helped put the Seder on and he said, yeah, you're more than welcome to take them home. So I did. All of them. I put them in my bag like an old lady.

This really happened.

I just discovered these sandals. I am now offiicially in lust-mode.

Salt Water sandals, you will be mine.

...some day.

...when I have expendable income.

(ps. Mumsie, I'm wondering if I wore these as a kid...they seem eerily familiar...)

A Nice Chat.

We had one. The end.

Thoughts on the Vespa

I promise, photos to come!

I was driving my little motorsickle to work today, reflecting on how I feel about such a drastic change in my transportation. I went from car, to bicycle/bus, to now having the Vespa.

My first thought about not having a car was wow, it's actually really easy to get around without a car. (here, at least). The bus - super easy to take. My bike - even easier, fairly quick, and I get where I'm going feeling refreshed and like I just did something really good for my body.

Then came my Vespa, and in the short time I've had it, I've realized how easy it is to NOT ride my bicycle, even for short easy trips where I really should. This is because at the core of me I am lazy, lazy, lazy. I need to work on this because I really, really enjoy my bicycle. It's just not instant gratification.

Then, on Sunday I was standing next to my Vespa, putting on the ridiculously large amount of gear I need to wear (at least it feels that way right now), and I heard a honk. I looked up and a fellow Vespa rider was zipping past, waving. This made me laugh out loud. Who knew, I'm now part of a club.

Then on the way home, a guy on a Motorcycle waved as he passed me. This made me laugh even more, because who knew guys on Motorcycles did more than throw a look of contempt toward a bike like mine?

And my thoughts crystallized into this: I'm not invisible anymore. I never realized how invisible you are in a car - no one really looks at you, just your big hunk of metal. Now, everyone looks at me. Granted, most are probably thinking, that is one silly girl. But still...I'm not invisible. And this makes me happy.
