Today's Letters

My amazing friend Pilar sent me a link to a really cool blog called Today's Letters. They had a challenge that made Pilar think of me (had to do with taking a photo with a Vespa), so I submitted a photo. Yeah for Vespas...we're taking over the world.

And In Case You Forgot...

The First Leg. Because I'm a big-picture person.

Kansas, Explained

So, my amazing Aunt Nancy and Uncle Chris both decided to buy my two brothers and I plane tickets to come home to surprise my dad who was turning 60. So I got to Nashville, got off my Vespa, spent a day with Simon, and got back on a plane and returned to Kansas. Which felt weird.

We've been having a great time, though (photos to come), and made sure to get tons of footage of the surprise day, which Simon is going to make into a video of some sort. I'll post it as soon as he gets it finished.

I've been hearing about the hurricane that is heading for the east coast, which makes me happy I'm not ON the east coast yet. Hopefully it'll have come and gone by the time I get back on the Vesperini, which happens to be in only a few short days. The last leg of this journey is almost upon me.

Wow.

Probably not a great photo of either of us. Sigh.

We all went and saw The Help after this. Great movie.

Try as I might, I cannot get as into arcade games as they do.

My mom was right. These are a little creepy.

We are Team Surprise this week.

Nice, normal face.

Hanging out with pops while my mom and I meander.

My mom doesn't even put her knitting down to eat lunch. In the movie theater she was talking about using my dad's headlamp to continue knitting. She may need a 12 step program.

Yes. He has a small Mexican flag in his mouth.

Hey, he's 60. He can do whatever he wants.

Dad and Simon at lunch today.

Scoot Nashville

So many people met for this night's weekly meeting!

Some great friends took me on a tour of the Natchez Trace Pkwy and some great small towns. This was my first ever group ride and it was hilarious, how conspicuous we were. It was such a great experience.

I love southern porches. So much.

Great swing in someone's front yard.

Day 18, 19 Riding Map

Across from Simon's casa in the 12 South neighborhood.

This summer I've been craving iced tea and fruit. Not necessarily together. This morning, however, I went out to explore simon's neighborhood. I found a place that had iced black tea with orange and mint and it was so. good.

A Great and Lazy Day

I'm not a member of Pinterest but really wanted to share this with the world, so I took a photo. I laughed out loud.

The Interstate

I am pretty sure at least six people, at various points in the day, when asked how to get to Knoxville without the interstate, said...

"Weeeellll, you cain't git to Knoxville without the interstate.". Shaking their head at me, the poor, dumb Yankee.

I swear I wanted to throw a tantrum by the end of the day and yell, I GOT ALL THE WAY HERE FROM CALIFORNIA WITHOUT THE INTERSTATE! I THINK I CAN GET TO KNOXVILLE!!!!

Yesterday I was low on patience and stressed because I didn't know where I was going to sleep. I had been banking on something that never came through.

But really, friends. You can get places without the interstate. Take it from me.
